Meet the Cast

Katie.jpg

Katie Kelley

(Lowbrow OC Co-Founder) Seattle based soprano Katie Kelley made her directorial debut with our May 2019 West Coast premier run of #adulting. She is ecstatic to be bringing the show back bigger, better, and dumber than ever! Katie received her masters degree in voice performance from the University of Washington in 2017. While at UW, she performed the titular role of Cavalli's La Calisto and appeared as Orphee in Gluck's Orphee et Eurydice. Recently, Katie performed the role of Genovieffa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica with Seattle Modern Opera Company. She is excited to return to SMOC this summer as Rodolfo in their all-women production of Puccini’s La Boheme. Other notable roles include Judith in Deseret Experimental Opera Company's 2016 premier of Red Lake, and that time she pretended to loudly cry under a piano for 8 minutes as part of the undergraduate composition recital of John Ervin Brooks (the composer of this very show).

Christine.jpg

Christine Oshiki

(Lowbrow OC Co-Founder) A nomadic army brat, Christine Oshiki found home in the cloud dome of Washington nearly 14 years ago. Originally making roots in Olympia, Christine built up her musical theatre resume through local performing arts company, Capitol Playhouse. There, she performed roles such as Ruth in Pirates of Penzance, Ida in Honk, and Chiffon in Little Shop of Horrors. She later went on to stage manage West Side Story and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum for their children’s summer program, where she discovered her passion for stage direction and corralling small humans. Moving to Seattle in 2012, Christine attended the University of Washington where she earned her Bachelor of Music in vocal performance, and added several operatic roles to her musical resume, including Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, Giove in Diana in La Calisto, and La Badessa in Suor Angelica. Upon graduation, she worked as a director and after school coordinator at Seattle’s Performers, a children’s theatre company in U District, which eventually led her to seek a teaching position at St. Thomas School in Medina in their Early Learning Center. She has performed roles such as La Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro and 2nd Lady/2nd Spirit in Die Zauberflöte through Summer Opera Workshop in Toronto and Vancouver, and will be traveling to Austin, Texas this summer to perform Pamina in her third production of Die Zauberflöte, ‘cause the bitch just can’t get enough. Along with teaching preschoolers how to put on jackets and wash their hands properly, Christine also sings with Choral Arts Northwest, and is the soprano section leader for the St. Thomas Church Choir and Boeing Employee’s Choir, with which she will be touring Spain and Portugal this summer. In her limited spare time, she excessively drinks IPAs, googles facts about sharks and serial killers, convinces her roommates to adopt more animals, and tries to remember not to burp in public.
