Support our Mission

Lowbrow Opera Collective was born out of the desire to push the envelope of opera. In the summer of 2018, co-founders Katie Kelley, Christine Oshiki, and Nic Varela met at a pub to gripe over the difficulties of being a young opera performer. Thus, our three co-founders decided to say “to hell with it” and create the opportunities for themselves and for other young singers to be able to tell stories that resonate with modern audiences.

Their beer-soaked dreams became a reality with their inaugural production, a Brooks and Elder creation called #adulting. This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our generous community. Lowbrow went on two produce two full productions over the course of the COVID-19 pandemic, providing safe, exciting performance opportunities to singers from all over the country.

LOC is a story of humble beginnings and big dreams. Our work is a love letter to our community, and is done for the advancement of opera. If you would like to support our mission, please consider donating to our cause. 100% of your donations goes toward supporting LOC’s future projects.
